Capacity building on poverty

Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland has assigned (in 2001) STAKES to plan and implement training that aimed at strengthening the capacity for an increased focus on poverty reduction and gender mainstreaming in Finland's relations with developing countries.

The main target group was the staff of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The training increased the capacity of the personnel by identifying priorities and critical moments when decisions with a poverty impact are being made.

STAKES' experts produced easily accessible and practical web-based tools to monitor the poverty impact of the Finnish bilateral development cooperation and also practical tools were identified. Focused training improved the skills to utilise and apply the latest analysis, principles and strategies for poverty reduction.
